My research interests include (in no particular order):
- IT Automation – specifically the ability to automate tedious functions using short/simple programs or scripts.
- IT Process Improvement – in order to automate a process, you must first drill down and understand the process.
- IT Security in Healthcare
- Voice Authentication – specifically it’s uses, when combined with time & place, to make an all-encompassing authentication method using 3 or 4 factors. This is my current research focus and will be proposed as a possible PhD Dissertation.
My non-research interests include:
- Small Office/Home Office (SOHO) networking – I run my own domain (partially virtualized) at home and am interested in all aspects of it including:
- Chat Management (I run OpenFire Server for this)
- Network Logging and Monitoring (Splunk Free edition is awesome for this)
- Windows Domain Management (Windows Server 2012 R2 all the day down to 2008 R1 are used in my environments)
- Wire and Cable Management
- Wireless security
- Simple Application Development – I create applications that do 1 or many things but do them simply and efficiently. My projects can be viewed on Github.
- Teaching – I teach basic IT Concepts to family and friends but am looking to branch out.
